Berjaya Hotels & Resorts Brings Cheer To Underprivileged Children

Berjaya Hotels & Resorts recently spread the joy of Christmas to eight young girls under the patronage of Yayasan Kebajikan dan Pembangunan Masyarakat (YKPM), with help from the Yellow House Society of Kuala Lumpur.

The girls were chosen to be a part of the "Little Chefs - A Day of Bliss, A Time to Give" charity event. The objective of this event was to empower children in the spirit of giving, sharing and blessing during this holiday season through a day of fun cooking at Berjaya Times Square Hotel & Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

These young ladies participated in a cooking session inside the kitchen of the Convention Centre, and were divided into two different groups. One group learned to bake ginger breads while the other learned how to prepare a Christmas turkey.

"Christmas season is all about giving and sharing," said Thang Han-Ni, the the Director of Marketing Communications, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts in her opening speech, adding that, "We took a different approach by not only giving the girls a day of fun learning, but also instilling self-confidence and empowerment in these young ladies. The cooking session gave them the empowerment, by being in control of the cooking methods and preparing food themselves. "It is also important to share their joy after the cooking session. Each girl served and shared their ginger breads with our hotel guests and at the same time, learned to pick up conversational skills when approaching the public. At the end of the event, we also helped these girls bless important people in their lives. We gave them 5 packs of gingerbread each, attached with their personal message card as a blessing to their community," she concluded.
