Special event - Spring Cleaning

Life's a beach, and don't spoil it by caring for Mother Nature

LET'S face it - many of the beaches in Malaysia are polluted, no thanks to mankind of course. However, a certain organisation wants to do something to rectify the proble. Berjaya Redang Beach Resort will be embarking on their annual Redang Clean Up Day project from September 14 to 16, 2007 to protect and preserve Redang Island's pristine condition.

Endorsed by PADI Project AWARE (our local diving industry's leading non-profit organisation), Malaysian Sport Diving Association (MSDA) and supported by Tourism Malaysia, the event - open to the public - also aims to cultivate and promote the importance of preserving and protecting the environment and ecological systems of Redang Island for the future generation's benefit.

In conjuction with the Clean-Up Day, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts is offering two subsidised dive packages:

3 Days / 2 Nights Redang Clean-Up Diver Package at RM518nett per person (inclusive of twin sharing accommodation, two breakfasts, two dinners, three boat dives and one shore dive; PADI Project AWARE certificate and welcome pack).

3 Days / 2 Nights Redang Clean-Up Air-Inclusive Package at RM998nett and RM1,018nett per person, inclusive of return airfare (excluding airport taxes) from Subang-Redang-Subang and Singapore-Redang-Singapore respectively; twin sharing accommodation, two breakfasts, two dinners, three boat dives and one shore dive; PADI Project AWARE certificate and welcome pack.

The clean-up exercise is divided into two categories - land clean-up (for litter - ideal for non-divers) and underwater clean-up. Participants are encouraged to assist in removing crown-of-thorns starfish from coral reefs. The 'crown-of-thorns' starfish, with thorn-like spines sprouting all over its body, is deemed partly responsible for the diminishing coral reefs around Redang Island.
