Tioman Island, Pahang – Malaysia – Bestowed with miles of secluded palm-fringed beaches, clear turquoise waters, abundant marine life, misty mountains and lush tropical rainforest, Tioman Island in Malaysia was honoured as one of the world’s most beautiful islands by TIME magazine. While offering the best of Mother Nature, Tioman’s duty free status makes buying and shopping all the more interesting.
Secluded by magnificent golden sandy beaches overlooking the South China Sea, Berjaya Tioman Beach, Golf & Spa Resort is the ideal spot for launching into days of vacation and relaxation. Featuring traditional Malay-style chalets, the resort has recently given a new facelift to its Standard Chalets and Executive Family Suites. The chalets are newly refurbished yet maintaining the traditional Malaysian architectural design. The suites sport an urban contemporary look and are just a stone’s throw away from the beach. A king-size bed with spring mattress luxuriously wrapped in plush bed sheets, duvet and fluffy pillows awaits once you step into the suite.
The latest addition at Berjaya Tioman Beach, Golf & Spa Resort, the ‘Challenger Park’, features a wide range of team building facilities. From outdoor challenges to professionally-guided indoor training programmes, the resort provides a conducive environment for outdoor trainings and business conferences with its beautiful beaches and scenery. The Challenger Park was created to meet a unique meeting requirement, i.e. a meeting spot in an island to form integration through teambuilding activities away from the city. Berjaya Tioman Beach, Golf & Spa Resort is the only resort in Tioman which offers such teambuilding facilities within a unique resort setting.
For a private treat, swing into golf action at the resort’s 18-hole championship golf course. The golf course is also the only international golf course on the island. Designed by Ronald Fream and Michael Coate, the golf course boasts a magnificent scenic beach view on the first nine and spectacular scenery of lush tropical rainforests on the second nine.

ABOUT TIOMAN ISLAND, PAHANG – MALAYSIA Tioman Island (locally, Pulau Tioman) is a small island located 32km off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Pahang, and is some 39km long and 12km wide. This duty free island has eight main villages, the largest and most populous being Kampung Tekek in the north. Yet, the densely forested island is still sparsely inhabited and is surrounded by numerous coral reefs, making it a scuba diving haven. Its beaches were depicted in the 1958 movie, South Pacific as Bali Hai. In the 1970s, TIME magazine selected Tioman as one of the world’s most beautiful islands. The local resident population is 100% bumiputera (Malay people), all of which are Muslim. Apart from its diverse marine life, the inland rainforest area, encompassing approximately 12,383 hectares, Tioman is a strictly enforced reserve. There are several protected species of mammals on the island, from a total of 45 species of mammals and 138 species of birds, including the majestic Frigatebird. The soft-shelled turtle and the Tioman walking catfish are both unique and can be seen on rainforest walks. The island is served by ferries from the Malaysian mainland, and a propeller plane service by Berjaya Air from Singapore (Seletar Airport) and Kuala Lumpur (Subang Airport). According to legend, Tioman Island is the resting place of a beautiful dragon princess. Whilst flying from China to visit her prince in Singapore, this beautiful maiden stopped to seek solace in the crystal-clear waters of the South China Sea. Enraptured by the charms of the place, she decided to discontinue her journey. By taking the form of an island, she pledged to offer shelter and comfort to passing travellers. |
