Consequently, the 266-room Berjaya Redang Beach Resort now boasts of the largest room inventory in Redang Island. Following this RM40.0 million (USD11.0 million) room facelift, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing, Lynn Oh (Ms.) says the resort would be attracting more guests from Europe, Australia and regional markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.

“Redang Island is celebrated for its crystal clear waters and powder-white sandy beaches. It is a secluded and unobtrusive island which draws regular guests, in particular divers, who return each season to plunge in on the 30 diving sites which lay claim to one of the world’s most amazing underwater kingdoms. For those seeking a rejuvenating and pampering spa experience, the Ayura Spa offers its signature Aromatherapy Massage, which is a 60-minutes massage treatment that does wonders to alleviate stress. The spa is set in a refreshing environment, with its rainforest backdrop and Malay-inspired traditional treatments to help guests unwind and relax”, adds Oh.

While the leisure market continues to be the main business of the resort, corporate and MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) will play a significant role this year. Corporate group packages and team building activities have been designed to meet the needs of this growing market. Included also are beach barbeque with seafood fresh from the sea and various beach activities.

Meanwhile, the resort is also getting bookings from its own website. Dynamic pricing strategies have been employed and this indicates the significance of this distribution channel. “While we work closely with travel agents and wholesalers, the website allows us an avenue to market our various packages so that individual travelers/customers will obtain BAR (best available rates) for that particular period. This will encourage and reward customers to book early and to capitalize on revenues during low seasons”, further adds Oh.
